Presentations

CMSA Environmental Services staff is available to provide an informative presentation at your school on wastewater treatment, pollution prevention, and protecting the environment.

LEARNING PLAN

CMSA Staff introduces the program, and students view a 12-minute video, Where Does It Go?,
and see firsthand where the dirty water from their home goes, and how it gets cleaned up.

Students then break into small groups and take turns at various workstations, facilitated by CMSA staff,
teachers and parent volunteers.

MICROSCOPE . . . STORMWATER DIORAMA . . . TREATMENT PLANT MODEL . . . GAMES

  • Using beakers filled with non-hazardous chemicals and colored solutions, CMSA staff demonstrate how
a treatment plant cleans up the water before it goes into the Bay.

  • Students see the effects of stormwater run off in our tabletop watershed model by using spray bottles
    and colored solutions.
  • We bring along a laptop that is loaded with interactive games full of fun graphics and audio, called Ecomasters, that can entertain and educate several students at once.
  • Our large-viewing area microscope allows students to see many of the microorganisms that help clean the watewater. Handouts are avaialble for students to color while they wait for viewing opportunities.

The class ends with a group Q&A wrap-up session.
