CMSA employees will come to your school and provide an informative presentation on wastewater treatment, pollution prevention, and protecting the environment from hazardous waste.
The format for the presentations consists of a short introduction by CMSA staff followed by the viewing of a 12-minute videotape. The tape is called 'Where Does It Go?' and features children storm drain stenciling and cleaning up creeks while learning the difference between the sanitary sewer system and the storm drain system. Next we break into small groups and alternate between several workstations. CMSA employees, teachers and volunteer parents facilitate each station. At the end, the group reassembles for a short question and answer period. The time frame for the presentation is roughly one hour. The format can be shortened, lengthened or restructured based on the time available, the number of adult participants and the ages of the students. Our material is best suited for students in the 3rd to 5th grades. The workstations are described below.
